Salt Lake City UT USA: Temple Square Lights at Christmas

Most major cities across the USA have something unique that they do for the holidays. New York has the Rockefeller Tree and Chicago puts holiday lights all over the Chicago Zoo. Salt Lake City has their own thing too. As you know, Salt Lake City is the headquarters for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also known as the Mormon Church. The original Temple is in Downtown Salt Lake City surrounded by other historical buildings, and this area has become known as Temple Square.

During Christmas, they decorate Temple Square with an abundance of Christmas lights and nativity scenes. It is really unique and worth seeing for a few reasons:

Salt Lake City UT USA: Feature: One Man Band Diner

One large part of traveling that is often not thought about and where a lot of vacationers just go with the flow is where they eat while traveling. Even though there is nothing wrong with going about your travels this way, it can turn into a wild-goose chase if you’re in a city you don’t know. Ask my wife Irina about one of the nights of our honeymoon.

So if you happen to be traveling to or from Salt Lake City Utah via I-15 from St. George, Las Vegas or southern California and you are looking for a good diner, look no further than One Man Band Diner in Lehi Utah, about 30 minutes south of Salt Lake City right off the Lehi Main Street exit on the east side of the freeway.

Why is this restaurant worth a visit? (1) the food is good, and (2) the restaurant was in a movie starring Danny Glover!

Cancun Cuisine: A Melting Pot of Taste!

If you were to ask the average individual who never visited Mexico what food they would expect to eat there, they would probably guess tacos, refried beans, Mexican rice, guacamole, carne asada, carnitas, molé etc. Although this answer would not be incorrect, there is so much more to the cuisine in Mexico than just your stereotyped Mexican food, especially with food in Cancun.

In fact, making the assumption that Mexicans only eat these foods is tantamount to someone in Europe assuming that Americans eat Burgers, hot dogs, fries, and country fried steak every day. In the USA, we eat all types of food. Yes, we do eat the foods mentioned above, but we also eat Mexican inspired food (Tex Mex), Italian food, Asian food, sushi and a lot of everything.

I have news for you if you haven’t traveled much, most other countries eat the same way. They have their own food, but they also eat popular foods from outside of their country. Mexico is no different, especially in Cancun.
