We slept a lot better our second night in Saint Petersburg and woke up more refreshed on Monday, June 11, 2018. We were very ready to start day 2 in Saint Petersburg and full of excitement. We had a yummy Russian breakfast at our hotel, no different from the first day. We stepped outside, it was warmer, but very overcast as if it might start to rain.
So, after two flights, one long and one medium length flight, we arrived in Saint Petersburg Russia early Sunday morning June 10th. We got a short, but strong night of sleep, and we got up late Sunday morning to experience our first day in Saint Petersburg. We were a little dizzy and jet lagged, but very excited at the same time.
After arriving at the gate, we waited to exit the plane for quite a while due to the fact we were near the back of the plane and several people in front of us had to exit first. Once we exited the plane, we were tired, but really excited for the opportunity to go to downtown Amsterdam.
We strolled through the terminal making our way to Passport Control and to the exit of the airport. We stopped and took a few pictures along the way.
As with any big trip, to say that we were excited to embark on this trip clear to the other side of the world would be an understatement of epic proportions.
It was Friday, June 8, 2018. I went to work that day and left two hours early at 3:00pm so that I could get home and help the family pack the rest of the way, so we could leave at 5:00pm and get to the Salt Lake City Airport (SLC) no later than 6pm, which was exactly 3 hours before our international departure.
Another great and short get-away from the Salt Lake Valley is to take a trip up to Deer Creek Reservoir in the mountains. It is part of Deer Creek State Park. It’s not really an escape from the heat as some lakes such as Tibble Fork are, but Deer Creek Reservoir is huge!
Whether you live close by or whether you live across the world, Park City is an amazing destination for families who are looking for a great adventure.
Park City is located in the mountains just above Salt Lake City, Utah and it is a great get-away to escape the summer heat for fun activities and it’s a great place during the winter to go skiing. In fact, Park City boasts some of the best skiing in the world and people flock here from just about everywhere to go skiing.
Despite Salt Lake City’s high elevation, it is a high desert and summers are hot, very often hovering around 100° F (38°C) during the day. So, if you’re anything like me, the heat gets old after several weeks and you really want to take a break, but you don’t want to travel too far either.
The good news is that the mountains are very close no matter where you are in the Salt Lake Valley or Utah Valley, you can escape and drive less than an hour to a higher elevation and cooler temperatures.
Tibble Fork Reservoir is very close to the cities of Highland and Alpine, Utah. All you have to do is take Highway 92 east and up the canyon. When prompted by the signs, you turn left and drive a way until you arrive.
Many people I talk to have visited Washington DC, very few have taken the trip to Mount Vernon, VA while there. It is somewhat of a distance away from the Washington DC Metro and depending on whether you drive, or take public transportation, it can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours to travel there.
Either way, ITS WORTH IT! We saw a lot of sights in Washington DC, this one is by far my favorite!
Now! What is so special about Mount Vernon?
You probably already have an idea of things you want to do on your next visit to Washington DC, but like a lot of people maybe you don’t have enough activities to fill up all your days, or maybe you have the opposite problem. Maybe you are visiting Washington DC for only a 3 full days and you have too many ideas of things to see and you want to narrow them down a little bit. So what sites should you visit if you are there only a few days? Or what is a long list of places that are worth seeing if I’m in DC for a week or more?
Should I rent a car, should I hire an Uber Driver? Should I take the Metro? Those are common questions travelers ask themselves before visiting a place such as Washington DC. There are no wrong answers, it really depends on what you are comfortable with.
